We created Rapids to facilitate the telling of more stories of the Whanganui River, and its rapids- all 239 of them- have their own stories, told by locals to visitors, as they journey through our backyard. Inspired by river tourism, Rapids is exclusive to businesses connected to the Whanganui River. Through this, we know that many more stories about the awa will be told alongside it, providing an unforgettable tourism experience from Korero to cup.

Blended using Brazil, Perano Verde and Colombia, Cauca E.P from Opal Coffees Palo Alto Reserve alongside a touch of Papua New Guinea, sourced through Langdon Coffee Merchants.

Opal Coffee have formed relationships with producers and cooperatives who have reliable supplies and are quality-focused to be part of their Palo Alto Reserve range. These regional lots have a minimum cup score of 83 points and provide year-to-year supply, enabling relationships from grower to roaster.
Opal’s Palo Alto programme promotes sustainable farming practices, pays farmers fairly, and helps to fund ongoing social initiatives, including acknowledgement and support of women who tirelessly undertake vital roles such as sorting and drying work in the coffee industry.
