This lot underwent WASHED processing, with 36-40 hours of initial fermentation, followed by drying on raised beds.

Similar to our naturally processed Yirgacheffe, it is from the Gadeb Wordea. Read more about Wordea, zones and Ethiopian administrative zones from our May 2021 collaboration here. https://www.derelict.co.nz/blog/933113

Abera Hailemariyam and his family began coffee farming in 1998 in Guji Zone, Elaferda Woreda, as suppliers of red coffee to coffee washing stations.

Unable to get enough money to support his family, he decided to travel to Debub region, Gedeo zone, Gedeb Woreda in 2016.

After some struggle, the family took ownership of a 28H coffee farm. (14.50 H in Gedeb Woreda and 13H around Guji zone). Before his role in the family business, Alberas' son Habtamu Abera spent four years working as a cherry supplier for washing stations, skills he transferred to his coffee washing site around his family farm.

They also work with Halo Beriti cooperative about coffee harvesting, preparation, and farm management practices.

About 98% of the coffee in Ethiopia is produced on small farms and it is the country’s most important export.
